Since my trip to Sacramento was postponed, due to George's death, my boss (and the managers) paid for a trip to Kansas City. The girls and I drove down last weekend. Although the drive down was cloudy and cold, it went smoothly. We had a good time. Went to Union Station, which is a lot of small museums in one place. Very interesting place. We will have to go back another time, to make sure we can visit the Irish Culture exhibit. Then we had supper at the Crayola Cafe, in the Country Club Plaza. After supper we walked around the mall area for about an hour. There are a lot of specialty shops and boutiques in the plaza. The girls each used their trip money (Thank you, Aunt Tammie) to make build-a-bear (not that brand, though) animals. A good time wouldn't be complete without ice cream, so that was the next stop. (By this time, I felt like I could have exploded from all the food!) The girls wanted to try ice skating, which was across the street in an outdoo pavillion. Long story short, in order to encourage Kendra to get onto the ice, I ended up on ice skates myself. Made it around the rink 1 1/2 times. The thought "If I fall, I could break (fill in the blank)" kept running through my head. This thought kept me from putting major effort into trying to skate any more than I did. Then we walked back to the hotel. The girls bought some snacks and a deck of cards at the gift shop, and we went back to our room. Sunday, we bought a couple of trinket souveniors and headed out. We had planned on stopping at Perkins for breakfast, but ended up at Denny's. I had to eat my own words, and follow the "if it's someplace we can eat in Lincoln, I'd rather not go" rule. Since there's a Perkins, but not a Denny's in Lincoln, I had to comply. We got back to Lincoln around 3, with enough time to stop at Walmart for our weekly groceries, eat Supper and be at Youth Group by 6.
Stay tuned for updates on my "Plans for 2008"!

I can sympathize with your ice skating experience. I too held back and at one point I thought I am going down. I had visions of the ice cracking and ruining everyone's day. Sebastian and Abigail had fun though so I suppose my personal exposure to complete and utter humiliation was worth it.
Sounds like a lot of fun. KC is more than Words of Fun and Royals baseball.

That was a nice break for you and the girls. I could never make ice skates work either, but have you ever seen Bob N. skate? He is an expert - poetry in motion.
Union Station sounds like my kind of place to spend a day.
