In response to Janel's query...

(what is in the Cascade Mountains)

That is almost like asking a Harley rider why he/she rides a Harley. I have wanted to live in Portland since high school. When I lived in CA, I would take trips to or through the Portland area. I could give you the "tourist" reasons for living there, but it's more than that. It's more than standing on the Multnomah Falls Bridge and feeling the spray of the waterfall on your face. It's more than standing on Crown Pointe, overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, with the wind blowing your hair. It's more than sitting in the Portland International Rose Gardens, overlooking the city of Portland with Mt. Hood as a backdrop, with the heady smell of roses surrounding you.

When I was hiking and walking through the Rockies, in July, I was reminded of the Cascades. It was close, but just not the same.

I have friends who live in Portland and Vancouver (WA). Just hearing stories about the teens they work with and deal with, shows me how much God's Grace is needed. These kids are searching for something to fill a void in their hearts only Jesus can fill. Without knowing the Gospel, they will turn to Satan's ways (insert Wiccan, Atheist, etc.) Because of this, I see a need in the area for God. Yes, there are teens in Omaha that need counseling as much as those in Portland. However, Omaha is in the Bible belt, whereas Portland is on the far left/liberal side. Teaching the Good News to someone who has never heard it before is a bigger challenge than someone who has heard the teachings. I know I can only plant seeds, it's up to God to fertilize and nurture those plantings.

(keep the questions coming...it makes me think! :) )

You're right when you say doors will open and close. I think that patience is necessary in pursuing a move like that. Especially at the age your girls are - right now, your family is your Mission Field and believe me, the time will slip away faster than you realize.
