The night before we left, I burned a couple of CDs that were church appropriate, for the trip. As we were leaving the church parking lot, I put the first one in with "Wherever We Go (that's where the party's at)" by the Newsboys, starting the lineup. We got the van rocking! I mention this song as it was used and danced to often over the week in NM. Someone asked if I would play it, as we were waiting for Sunday night's devotions to start. From then on, it was the "call to devotions" song!
Tuesday night was funny! :D Chad, AJ, Sammy and (probably) Ashleigh were waiting in the van for the others to finish with their work crews. I thought it was a bit quiet, so put the song on. Chad and AJ (literally) had the van rocking. Chip was sitting with his work crew by the building, when he saw the van rocking (his story, not mine) and thought "cool! that van's having fun! Oh wait that's our van! COOL!" (editor's note: may not be exact quotes, but real close)
Friday night we had the song blaring and we were dancing up a storm! One group leader came over and asked us to be quiet. I knew it was one song, so I let it ride. The song is only about 3 minutes long, then we would be a little more quiet. I think they were just jealous we could have a great time praising Jesus!
Sunday or Monday night, we closed devotions with "Hip Hop Jesus Rocks", including actions. Personally, I think someone was getting a little antsy and needed to get the body moving. From then on, we closed devotions with this song.
The third song that will get anyone in this group moving is "Get Down" by Audio Adrenaline. This song was played at the opening of all large group programs. By Friday, I finally got the line dance part of the actions down. I should have asked Drew to teach me, but didn't.
Wednesday night was the Variety Show. Although there were only a handful of acts, most did a great job. (ok the gal that quoted "Pi" was a little out there, but God bless her for getting up on stage.) Nick and Drew played guitars, while Nick sang "Beautiful". (I think that's the name of it) John, David, Nick and Drew lip synched a shortened version of "Bohemian Rapsody" originally by Queen. Loved the actions and choreography! I had been priviledged to watch the practice in my rearview mirror, on the way back from Pagosa Springs, CO. Brings a giggle just thinking about it! lol
On the way home from NM/CO, I let the teens take over the music by letting them play their Ipods/MP3 players' transmitters through the radio. I even tolerated the twangy C&W songs...still don't understand how someoneone would think "picking ticks off you" is a great pick-up line. Chad had me gagging when he played "I Will Survive" by Gloria (what's-her-name) from the disco era. (Note: I hate this song with a passion! Thanks to Dave/Dan what's-his-name, who I had to ride home from Jr. High with...had to play that stupid song every day!)
Grandma would appreciate the way music played such a part on this trip. Especially the praise music!
More to come, later...

COOL!
Welcome back. Did George & The Girls have a good trip? I have been too busy to do any blogging this week.
Luv Ya.
BTW, will we be seeing any pictures of this trip? Or of George and the girls'?
Just got my pic disc, last night. I have Bible Study tonight, so it may not be until Thurs or Fri night. It's in the plans, just on a different computer.
George and the girls had a great time in AZ. Aunt Sherrie and her kids and grandkids kept the girls busy. Jaydee went shopping and had a "makeover" at Macy's w/Aunt Sherrie. Kendra went to a movie with "the boys". Swimming, fireworks and cook-outs were the other activities I've heard about, so far.
