I got so focused on the Oregon trip, I forgot to tell about the message I received on the way to the airport! As I was waiting for my salad at Cracker Barrel (running early so stopped for a good meal), my phone rang. It was my friend Linda, saying "congratulations!". I had no clue as to what she was referring to. It couldn't have been the trip to OR, because I just told her I was on my way to the airport. She then tells me, I had been nominated for "Volunteer Of the Year" at Southwood (Lutheran Church). It was a good thing I was sitting down, because you could have knocked me over with a feather! Chip (the Youth Director) had nominated me, for my work with the Youth Group.
It wasn't until I got home, and checked the mail, that I realized it wasn't just our church this recognition was for. Thrivant Financial (a Lutheran organization) is honoring volunteers in the Lincoln area. This is the "First Annual" event, so I really don't know what to expect. All I know is I have been invited to a breakfast to honor volunteers. So come back for the "rest of the story", in 3 weeks! lol
What a call to get as I'm on my way to the airport!
